Playing the game
You play without an account. To play we process the nickname, country and character you pick and what you do in the game (moves, land, cuts). Your current game lives only in the server's memory. Your nickname, country and totals (cuts, land taken, land strengthened) are stored for the daily and all-time “Best” boards, and anonymous daily totals (for example how many tiles were taken) are kept for statistics. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR — providing the game you asked for.
Chat
Chat messages are shown to everyone playing. The last 30 messages are kept in the server's memory so new players can read them; they are not written to a database and are gone when the server restarts. Links, phone numbers and @tags are refused and some words are masked. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
IP address and security
Your IP address is used in the server's memory to limit connections, joins and messages per connection, to stop bots and spam, and is not stored. Our server (netcup GmbH, Germany) and Cloudflare (which protects and speeds up the site) process connection data such as IP address and browser in their logs. When it's switched on, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person before you play. Cloudflare is based in the USA and certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — keeping the game safe and available.
Statistics
We count visits with Umami, which we run ourselves. It sets no cookies and builds no profiles; it records pages and a few in-game events (for example “play”) without identifying you. Google Analytics, if it's ever switched on, only loads after you agree to it. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, or your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a)) for Google Analytics.
Your device
The game remembers your nickname, country, character and settings (for example chat hidden, joystick on) in your browser's local storage so you don't have to enter them again. A session cookie (lam_sid) protects payments and forms. Nothing of this is used for advertising or tracking.
Advertising on the map
If you buy an ad, we store what you entered (account name or title, link, picture, line of text, place and hours) and show it on the map. Payments are handled by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland); we never see your card details. Every new ad is sent to our moderation channel (Telegram) so a person can check it. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (the contract) and (c) (keeping invoices as the tax laws require).
Where data is stored
Our database and file storage are provided by Supabase in the EU (Ireland). The game server runs in Germany.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability and object to processing based on legitimate interests — write to [email protected], for example to remove your nickname from the boards. You may also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg.
